Can You Use Your EBT Card at H Mart?

Yes, H Mart accepts EBT cards for in-store grocery purchases at most of their locations. If you receive SNAP benefits (also known as food stamps), you can use your EBT card to buy groceries when you shop at an H Mart store.

However, you cannot use your EBT card to buy groceries online from H Mart. You can still use H Mart’s website to check prices before you visit, but you’ll need to shop in person if you want to pay with EBT.

Tips for Shopping with EBT at H Mart

  • Check your EBT balance before shopping. You can use the EBT app to see how much money you have left and plan your spending.
  • Know what you can buy with EBT. Only certain food items are SNAP-eligible. Bring another way to pay for things like toiletries, paper products, or hot prepared foods, which EBT won’t cover.
  • Keep eligible and ineligible items separate. When you shop, put SNAP-eligible groceries in a different part of your cart to make checkout easier.
  • EBT works at self-checkout and regular checkout. Not all stores have self-checkout lanes, so call ahead to your local H Mart if you prefer that option.
  • You can split payments. If you want to pay with EBT for eligible items and use cash, debit, or credit for others, just tell the cashier how much you want to use from each method. At self-checkout, you can do this by entering the amounts for each method on the kiosk.

Keeping Your EBT Card Safe

Protect your benefits by:

  • Checking the card reader for anything odd before using your card. If it looks strange or doesn’t work right, let a store employee know. This could be a sign of a card skimmer.
  • Never sharing your EBT PIN, even with friends or family, and changing your PIN monthly.
  • If your EBT card is lost or stolen, report it right away by calling your state’s EBT phone number.
